Selection of Roll Film for Packaging Machines

1. Applicable Form

The film applicable to this specification is in roll form, with a unified standard paper tube inner diameter of 76.2mm. This size is compatible with the unwinding mechanism of most conventional packaging equipment, which can ensure that the film runs stably without deviation, and reduce problems such as equipment jamming and film tearing. At the same time, the film must adopt a composite film structure of two or more layers, in which the inner layer must have good heat-sealing performance to ensure effective sealing through heat-sealing process during packaging, preventing the packaged contents from dampness and leakage; the outer layer must be a non-heat-sealing material to avoid abnormal situations such as outer layer adhering to equipment and film wrinkling during packaging, ensuring the smoothness of the packaging process and the aesthetics of the packaged finished products.

2. Applicable Thickness

The applicable thickness range of the film is 0.025mm ~ 0.060mm. This thickness range has been verified in actual production, which can not only meet the basic protection needs of packaging, but also balance the packaging cost and equipment adaptability. When the thickness is less than 0.025mm, the tensile strength and puncture resistance of the film are insufficient, which is easy to be damaged during packaging and cannot effectively protect the contents; when the thickness is more than 0.060mm, it will not only increase the cost of packaging materials, but also may lead to the decrease of film flexibility, making it difficult to adapt to the folding, heat-sealing and other processes of the equipment, affecting the packaging efficiency and finished product quality. Therefore, the film thickness must be strictly controlled within the specified range.

3. Applicable Substrates

Paper series: paper/CPP. This series of substrates uses paper as the outer layer and CPP (Cast Polypropylene) as the inner layer, which combines the environmental protection of paper and the heat-sealing property of CPP. It is suitable for products that require a paper texture in packaging appearance and need heat-sealing, and is widely used in simple packaging in fields such as food and daily necessities.

Cellophane series: MST/PE. MST (Modified Cellophane) is used as the outer layer, which has good transparency and gloss, and can clearly display the packaged contents. PE (Polyethylene) is used as the inner layer to provide heat-sealing function. This series is suitable for products that require high packaging transparency and need to balance aesthetics and sealing.

MST/CPP/PE series: including four combinations of OPP/CPP, OPP/PE, KOP/CPP and KOP/PE. Among them, OPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) has the characteristics of high strength and high transparency, and KOP (Aluminized Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) has a certain barrier property, which can block light and oxygen and extend the shelf life of the contents. This series is suitable for various mid-to-high-end packaging needs and has a wide range of applications.

PET series: including three combinations of PET/CPP, PET/PE and PET/EVA. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) has excellent tensile strength, transparency and barrier property. Combined with CPP, PE or EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer) inner layer, it can meet the sealing and protection needs of different products, and is often used for packaging products that need long-term storage and have high requirements for barrier property.

NYLON series: PA/PE, PA/CPP. PA (Nylon) has good toughness, puncture resistance and barrier property, which can effectively protect the contents that are easy to be damaged and oxidized. Combined with PE or CPP inner layer to achieve heat-sealing, it is suitable for products with high requirements for packaging protection such as meat, cooked food and nuts.

Aluminum foil series: PET/Aluminum/CPP. This series is a three-layer composite structure. The aluminum foil layer has excellent barrier property, which can effectively block light, oxygen and moisture, and maximize the shelf life of the contents. The PET outer layer provides support and protection, and the CPP inner layer realizes heat-sealing. It is suitable for products with extremely high requirements for freshness preservation and barrier property, such as vacuum-packed food and medicines.
